I'm Giving Up on Quoted Titles

So I suddenly remembered I had a blog to write today. I've been to several parties over this week (I know, I'm so damn popular) and I visited my grandfather (he's very sick, unfortunately he may not be around much longer). Today, though, I've got nothing on so I can post again. Hurrah!

After going back to Snake Dungeon (which ironically seems to have NO snakes inside whatsoever), I got killed by a BBB and then by Manhandla again. I also learnt somethign: electric bubbles aren't electric, they're skulls inside fire. They also DON'T DAMAGE YOU. They just render your equipment unusable for a while. Huh.

I die again by the Red Bats and BBBs, but I finally reach Manhandla and using my last 3 bombs KILL THE MUTHAFUCKAAAAAAAAAAAAH! It gives me more bombs (fuck off, bombs, I'm sick of you) and passage further into the dungeon (into the back of the snake's mind). Oh, look! An old man! What wonderful words of wisdom will he give me?

"WALK INTO THE WATERFALL." Well, thanks old man. I'd already figured that out by trying to commit suicide but good for you. Well, at least I know that the hidden room in the waterfall is important (well, it IS a Blue Ring, it's pretty freakin' useful). The east door unlocks with my final key (knew there was a use for the spare!), leading to a room with another key (Nevermind). It's also full of bats, who eat up my health like soup. Fuck you, bats! Next room...

TRAPS! TRAPS EVERYWHERE! This'll be hard. I have to bait them to get them to move slowly, then make a run for it. Here goes... YES! Made it! Now, into a room with... FUCKING BBBS!!! I'm almost dead and need to kill them ALL to continue to the Boss. Meh, I'm going down swinging. WITH A BOW AND ARROW! Killed, but no rewards. Fuck you, BBBs. You're like the Splitting Slimes, aren't you. I need a stronger sword to get rewards off you, don't I. Well fuck. BOSS ROOM!

it's another dragon, but not like Aquamentus. This one's blocking the Shard room with it's fat ass and it's long-ass neck is turning around to let it's tiny face spew fireballs. Instantly I die, and I have to go through all that shit again. I'M SICK OF STARTING WITH 3 HEARTS! There has to be a way out if it... Hints, anyone?

Back at the start, I avoid EVERYTHING but when I need to kill, I use my sword or candle. I'm not wasting my arrows, 'cos I think I'll need them to fight Gleeock (I googled him, but not how to kill him. I won't spoil it for myself). I ended up getting there with 2.5 hearts, so I might get killed quickley. ONWARDS!

Okay, apparently it has TWO heads. Arrows do jack shit, so fuck that idea. I can attack it with a Sword, but I have to get in close. I could try bombs next time. Oh, I'm dead by the way. NEXT ATTEMPT!

If it weren't for those FUCKING BATS I would've made it with 3 hearts, but one hit me so I'm back to 2.5. This time I'll try bombing Gleeock while I'm slashing his necks... Okay, a bomb to the body doesn't do shit either. Attacking with the sword doesn't phase the body, either. Or to the head. IT'S NECKS ARE IT'S WEAKNESSES! I'll try bombing it again later.

Sorry guys, but it's lunchtime. I'm getting a VERY painful feeling in my stomach that means "GIMME FOOD OR I'LL EXPLODE INSIDE YOU". I don't want that to happen. You understand, right?

P.S: In addition to this, I've started another blog for my daily life as well. If anyone wants to know what I do outside my room, check out Life on a Whiteboard, where all my anecdotes get dumped (they're also illustrated with pictures drawn on my whiteboard. I'll find a better way to photograph them when I can, so DWI).

UPDATE: I just realised I thought the Waterfall room was the one that gave me the Ring. This is wrong, I got that room mixed up with the room under the statue, the Waterfall room gives me advice from an old lady (when I pay).

Raft

Sorry about not playing yesterday, some serious stuff was going on. I guess this is my first post that details some of my actual life outside Zelda.

These days, I haven't been showering, haven't been getting dressed out of my pajamas and haven't been leaving the house in days. I haven't got a job, I don't have a girlfriend, and I don't know whether I got into university yet. These days, I'm the laziest fucker alive. And my mouth tastes weird, apparently I forget to brush my teeth more often, too. I'll be right back...

Okay, now my mouth tastes less like the cereal I ate a few hours ago. You know, when I finally get into uni, I want to move out of my parent's house. I want to have that experience of living with other people my own age while I'm in university, and to actually have a job that doesn't make me want to kill myself. Maybe then I can live a 'normal' life, because the way I've been living now is FAR from normal from a teenager's point of view. I'm 17, never drank, never done drugs (and don't plan to do either things), and never had a girlfriend. PLEASE EXCUSE ME TO WALLOW IN SELF PITY FOR A MOMENT...

Now back to the game. There's a cave north of Manji Dungeon and a strange-looking wall north of that, and I want to check them out. Onwards, north-west from the Start! I made it there, after an abysmal reward rate of the enemies killed, and the cave is another shop with a shield and arrow to sell, which I already have. It also sold some bombs, though, so that's mediocre at best. North of the shop is a screen with six stone statues (which will of course come to life when I touch them) and some blue sand-beasts. The sand beasts die and one of the statues REVEALS A STAIRCASE! It also kills me.

NEXT ATTEMPT! Yes, I'm obsessing over ANOTHER staircase, bu-SHUT UP! I make my way back and find that blue sand beasts can deplete health pretty quickly. I also found that you CAN outrun a stone statue long enough to jump down a hole he was standing over. Another shop, and it's actually alright. There's a key for 80 Rupies, some meat for 60 and a Blue Ring for 250! The ring halves damage, so obviously ME WANTY! I know EXACTLY where to spend my riches now! At least, once I GET riches.

Back to the supposed Dungeon 4, across the lake with my new raft! And here I am, Dungeon 4 with only 1 heart left. Well, I'm going to DEAL WITH IT and KERRY OHN (meant to sound extremely british)! West is another Bat Room with a hidden Key, North is the rest of the dungeon which kills me with a blue jumping rabbit. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Entering again, the bouncing blue bastards die pretty easily, and they erupt into red bats with are also killed easily with a boomerang to the face. East and it's suddenly pitch-black. A use for my candle! Fantastic! There's a little maze filled with more BBB's and the Compass. Slay! Slay! Get hit by a bat! Slay! Obtain Compass! GTFO! Done. Backtrack. Next room, a Bat room with another Key and now only 1/2 heart left.

The next room is dark as well, and the candle reveals more blocks and more BBB's. Easily dying, I run back to the same room and try to avoid them at all costs (I manage it) and move to the next dark room. There are some Splitting Slimes here, but I'm too strong for them and they die without hassle. Another key is given and I move on. OH FUCK ELECTRIC BALLS! Rather than fighting, I'm skipping this shit. The next room, however, has too many BBB's. I kill them (amazingly without losing health) and progress (leaving the locked door for later). MORE ELECTRIC BALLS! Luckily, a nearby enemy gives me a Clock and they all freeze. Nothing seems to give me anything in this room. THERE MUST BE A SECRET PASSAGE! A moving block confirms this and OMG STAIRCASE!

Inside is a Stepladder, which I'm sure is useful somehow. The locked door from earlier reveals a dead end, and I get killed by a damn slime. A basic slime! Back to the start. I NEED A MAP. I have no idea where anything was just then! Back at the ELECRIC BALL room that I skipped, I realize the Stepladder's potential. SINGLE-TILED CHASMS CAN DIE IN THEMSELVES because I can step OVER them! This unlocks (figuratively) a new room, which leads to the room I just died in, but in a NEW POSITION so I can gain THE MAP! This dungeon is hereby named Snake Dungeon!

Now that I've collected a Main Item in this place, I can confidently find the Boss without fear of missing parts of the dungeon. Backtracking and going fo-WHAT THE FUCK I KILLED YOU LAST TIME I PLAYED! Manhandla's back, and still after my blood. I die pretty much instantly and have to try again. I die in the second-last room before it and have to try AGAIN.

But apparently, I have to stop because dear mum wants me to start my satanic chores (like cleaning the bathroom - isn't that just despicable?). I'll try again on Thursday (I've got another party Wednesday, aren't I a social little butterfly?).

Staircase Room Attack!

So starting again, STILL heading for Manji Dungeon, I was lucky enough to kill a Moblin with a FAIRY, so now I'm at full health and owner of 6 Bombs. STAIRCASE ROOM! (For those who don't know what I'm on about, theres a room in the lower-left spike of the 3rd dungeon with a staircase in it that I want to go down, but it's guarded by a thousand Knights)

Now I have the Sword Beam, I can kill those first 3 Knights easily. The next room (last before Staircase room) has abo-FUCKING BATS!!! Now I've got 3.5 health! DAMMITALL! Now I have to look in the deeper rooms for hea-FUCKING BALLS OF ELECRICITY! ONLY 1 FUCKING HEART LEFT!

In later rooms, there were more Splitting Slimes, but none gave me hearts (just money, but THAT'S NOT WHAT I NEED RIGHT NOW). I'm thinking of leaving the dungeon to come back in and see if it resets the enemies... hey! A room of Splitting Slimes is already reset! OH MY GOD ONE GAVE ME A FAIRY! I'm full health again! Time to fight the last few rooms before Staircase!

Second-last room again, and... ONE GAVE ME A MAGIC CLOCK. EVERYONE FREEZES. EVERYONE GETS KILLED EASILY. I'm a VERY happy camper right now! Staircase room, at last! But there's about 15 Knights. I have bombs, but should I use them to kill or just run? I've come so far, I can't just waste it...

I'm going for the Bombs! I'm laying them everywhere, they seem to clump together a few times... two die, a heart and 4 more bombs! More die, more hearts! Only two left, only two bombs! One kills one and wounds the other, this is it! THIS IS IT! THE BASTARD DIES BY MY FINAL BOMB! And gives me 4 more bombs at that! AND THE STAIRCASE! THE MAGNIFICENT STAIRCASE! I descend into the abyss and find... a Raft! I can move on water kind of! YAY! Now for the boss.

One room before the Boss are three knights. I save my Bombs for I know they're needed. They die and open my way to the 3rd last room of the dungeon. Inside are more balls of electricity, bats and slimes. They die easily without costing me life (except the balls) and show me the boss...

A flower? I'm killing a flower? That's ju-OH GOD IT'S THROWING FIRE AT ME! Well, I could cut off it's leaves, but I don't like getting close. Dammit, the dungeon's been throwing Bombs in my face all of three days, that's what I'm using to kill it! A bomb as close as I dare to it's small body and it cuts off 3 of it's stems, I try again but FUCK I BURN AND DIE.

Next attempt, however I only have 1 Bomb left. Some Slimes give me full health again and I arrive again at the 3 Knights (who reduce me to 2 Hearts), the electricity and finally the Boss (whom I now know is named Manhandla, lol). My last bomb is placed as close as I dare and... and... AND...

Only 2 petals were killed! OH THE PAIN! With only 1 heart left, I charge, dodging not one, NOT TWO, but FIVE FIREBALLS to attack a SINGLE PETAL ONCE before dying again. So I leave this wretched hell-hole to buy the Arrow and stock up on Bombs. I save and restart in the Overworld. TO THE EAST!

With over 150 Rupies, I can buy the Arrow and 2 sets of Bombs (exiting/entering each purchase). With full health (thanks to some hearts from Octoroks), I decide to get to Manji Dungeon from where I am, instead of wasting my full health on saving and restarting. By retracing my route back, I effectively have no interruptions (as they were already SLAIN), and get back to the start quite easily. Getting back to Maji had a few near misses but I made it with still-full health.

Inside, my Sword Beam makes quick work of the Knights and the Slimes in the room before Manhandla, and the showdown begins. Manhandla rolls around, spewing fireballs. I run, avoiding as many as I can, to shove a bomb somewhere dark. Almost directly on it's center, my first one lands, destroying 3 petals instantly. Manhandla rolls faster, shooting more. I get hit several times, only 2 hearts remain, my bomb placement becoming more sloppy. Abandoning that tactic, I swipe my White Sword, hitting it's petal once, twice... DEATH!

Manhandla dies, vanishing from existence, giving me another Heart and entrance to the next Triforce Shard! Nabbing my new heart, I run into the room, picking up my shard and, finally, watch Manji Dungeon collapse around my character's triumphant bragging sprite (also, I've noticed I now have 2 spare keys!)

Where to next? Dungeon 3 has been defeated, and I have a nice new Raft to take me across the water. According to my map, there's a dungeon across Lake Hylia not far from the Starting Screen. There are also, however, a few caves and some screens with no caves but bushes. I'm going secret-hunting next time, and then finding out if Dungeon 4 is the one on the lake. BYE!

White Sword

So, true to my word, I ventured off to find the Waterfall and get a new Sword. My map says it's north of the starting space (ALL the way north), which is luckily on the path to the shop with the cheaper Magic Shield, so, armed with a little over 130 Rupies, I buy that shit! Yay, magical shielding!

Crossing the desert to the West, avoiding the spiky bastards coming out of the sand, and then the flying bulbs and a Zora, I'm on the home stretch to the Waterfall. There are, however, many rocks falling, and so when I finally ascend the stairs next to the waterfall I only have half a heart left of health. There's a monster there, so dammit, I have to avoid it. Surprisingly easy, though. AND THEN, THE OLD MAN HAS A SWORD! MY WOODEN STICK IS UPGRADED!! My health, however, is not. Meh, if I'm gonna die, I'm investigating that cave a little to the east of here on my map.

...

Oh dear. I seem to be trapped in a repeating screen. Every time I go in any direction, I reappear on the other side of the screen. Except the west, so I guess I can't get past this screen. Oh well. I run into the Zora and die so I can get to Manji Dungeon quicker aga-0.0 WOAH. The zora was next to the waterfall, so I ran into it, but I ran too early and hit the waterfall, and IT HAS A SECRET ROOM! Some old lady's telling me to pay to talk, either 5 10 or 20 Rupies. I want info, so I give 20.

"GO UP, UP, THE MOUNTAIN AHEAD". That was mildly wasteful. Apparently there's a dungeon north of the Trap screen, so I guess it's for that. OH! So just keep going up until you break free of the trap! Right, well that's useful. Later. I really need to keep track of these notes I'm getting, I should get a small notebook.

So after leaving and killing myself properlly, I head back to Manji Dungeon. On the way I see a suspicious-looking bush, so after burning it... nothing. Meh, to the Dungeon!

Okay, full health, better sword, but no bombs. TIME TO KILL SHIT. Awesome, this sword kills splitting-slimes instantly, so they give rewards! No bombs yet, but I'll be patient. The knights in the next room reduce me to 1 heart, so no more Beams for a while, and I look around the dungeon for small creatures to kill. Next room... killed by a bat. This is just sad.

Making my way ba-OH MY GOD KNIGHTS STOP TURNING BACKWARDS SO SUDDENLY! One gave me bombs, though, so I can survive a little longer when I get to the Staircase room. In the Bat room where I last died, I killed them all and was rewarded with MORE BOMBS! So now I've got a full set, and I'm ready to fuck that staircase room UP! Once I get some health back. So I got the amazing idea of actually beating the dungeon and getting an extra heart first!

To the boss! No, to the start! Because it's protected by MORE FUCKING KNIGHTS! Whatever, to the FUCKING STAIRCASE ROOM avoiding EVERYTHING that walks there! DAMMIT KILLED AGAIN I WANT TO MURDER THIS GAME!

...

And there it is. The emotion bore into every player of this game's mind. The urge to snap the game disc in ten and set it on fire due to the severe difficulty of it. I'm truly playing this game. And so, with this final thought, I stop playing for today before I smash my Wii into the wall.

Did you get the Sword from the Old Man on top of the Waterfall?

Okay, so scanning my map I found the nearest Dungeon to the starting screen (that I hadn't already bludgeoned to death with my wooden stick) was to the west, so off I go. Killing a bunch of stuff on the way (did I mention how much I love the Sword Beam?), I found this green elaborate cave guarded by Statues. THEY'RE ALIVE, I SWEAR IT! I'mma touch it! ...  DAMMITALL dead again.

Meanwhile, several minutes later...

As these statues appear to give JS as rewards, I think I'll leave them alone this time. Now, down to 1 heart, I enter Dungeon Three (ooh, good guess!), with only one door. WEST AHOY! OH GOD MORE BLOBS! Those ones that split when they die. Well, no rewards from them, helpful. What IS helpful, though, is the Key they left in the middle of the room. Yay!

In the next room I get killed by another Splitting Slime. Damn. Second try and they ALL give me rewards when I kill them with Bombs. Lovely. And, another key is bestowed. NEXT ROOM!

OH GOD THREE KNIGHTS! 1 Bomb... 2 down. Last one-OHGODTHEYCANTBEHITFROMTHE FRONT! Run, Sword Beam, Run, Sword Beam... done! And about 10 Rupies as a reward! Nice! To the west, I think, and theres the Compass amid bats and Traps. And a locked door! 1 of my 3 Keys opens it, and I find-OHGODMOREKNIGHTS! Bombs! They're my friend! 6 Later and only 1 left! However, I'm out. So good-ol' swordplay tactics to kill it (and no Sword Beam to help me!). Now I've only got 2 hearts left, but the South door opened itself. Hurrah.

A BILLION KNIGHTS!! But a staircase, so I'll come back to THAT room when I have Health and Bombs. In the meantime, North. Slimes, Bats and Bubbles of Death. I die. F***.

Attempt 2 succeeds and I find a corridoor to a locked door. Opened, it leads to more slimes and 2 locked doors. The slimes give me another Key, so both can be unlocked (well, they could already, but now I have another spare). East first, and Dungeon Map! I hereby name this dungeon...

0.0 Oh my... well, this is awkward. Dungeon Three, uh... I name thee... well...

Nazi Dungeon? Dear me, that's controversial. There must be an explanation, let me google this...
...
Right! Okay! It's NOT a Swastika, it's a Buddhist symbol meaning good fortune, called a Manji. OKAY THEN! I name thee MANJI DUNGEON!

Now that's out of the way, the next room holds MORE BLOODY KNIGHTS who kill me (although I got two, one giving me bombs!). NOW! To the Staircase Room! Hopefully more hearts appear, but LET'S GO!
DAMMIT! Killed by Knights.

Attempt 2: Killed all the knights in the room BEFORE the Staircase room, but I doubled back to get some health back. In doing so, I unlocked the northernmost door in the dungeon, taking me to another room with a Secret Switch (kill slimes, move block), taking me to an Old Man!

"DID YOU GET THE SWORD FROM THE OLD MAN ON TOP OF THE WATERFALL?". Saywhat? Another sword? Fantastic! There's my next target, find this Waterfall and get a new sword! AFTER this dungeon gets kicked in the face, that is. West from Old Man Waterfall is a room with a key and about 7 bats. NO HEARTS THOUGH! Back a few rooms- wait, no, killed by a SLIME! But that's okay, I only had 1/2 heart left, so now I'm back up to 3.

I've found the secret of the Splitting Jellies. Kill them with bombs, rewards. Usually. I'm using this to my advantage and killing them all with said bombs to get health and more bombs (for the Stair case room)... KILLED AGAIN JUST OUTSIDE!!! AND I'M OUT OF BOMBS! Screw it, I'm running for it when I finally kill these bitches and get into the staircase room. KILLING THINGS IS OVERRATED!

Well, another few deaths later and I'm no closer to entering the Staircase Room. I can't get ANY rewards from kills, especially not Bombs, and those knights just WON'T DIE. So I'm leaving to find that sword the old man was talking about and maybe having a better chance at this. I'm leaving this dungeon and heading for that waterfall. See you next time.

Dodongo Dislikes Smoke

I STARTED OUTSIDE THE DUNGEON! WTF? I SAVED INSIDE!!

*ahem* Okay, got a bit annoyed there. I started today and found myself at the starting screen in the Overworld, so I had to painfully get back to Dungeon 2. I died 2 SCREENS AWAY and had to go back AGAIN, but then I got there with over 70 Rupies and a full set of bombs, so I guess it's okay now. THEN I found the Death room and died AGAIN, then aga-WAIT, no I DID IT YAY! I ran around setting bombs in the blue Santas ways and got rewarded with... a blue boomerang? A Magic Boomerang? Oooh, it goes a LOT further now!

Satisfied, I move deeper and find two strings of Fireballs rolling around, but as I had full health from some monsters earlier my Sword Beam made short work of them, granting me another key (2 now). There was a room to the east, but that contained some bats, traps and a bomb (wow, yay *sarcasm*). Further north was another Snake room (opening a door north), but I went east again to find a room of slimes (and 5 Rupies as a prive for boomerang-ing their asses), and north again to another old man.

"DODONGO DISLIKES SMOKE" he says, which by the way was my second choice for the name of this blog, being one of the most famous Zelda quotes in history. I already know what this means, so I backtrack to the Snake Room and go north to find Santas and hear the bosses growling. ENTER TO BOSS (equipping Bombs, in case the boss is who I anticipate...)!!

Oh my, a dinosaur! Apparently named Dodongo! Oh my! How do I kill him? I KNOW! HE DISLIKES SMOKE! Here, dino, eat these bombs! They'll make you big and strong!
...
Well that was a disappointing death. He eats 2 bombs and flashes a few times before vanishing. Huh. Well, okay. EXTRA HEART! Aaaaand... TRIFORCE SHARD #2!! WAIT A SECOND!! There were only three unlockable doors in that dungeon (I know that, I went to every room), but it gave me 4 keys! I have an extra key! That'll come in handy!

A decent dungeon, I'll admit. Now to find Dungeon 3! Aw, but I'm out of clues. Well, if anyone knows where Dungeon 3 is, or any other useful (not too spoiler) information that'd be useful, comment and join!
2 down, 6 to go!

Meet the Old Man at the Grave

Well, back from my friend's party and we've slept a total of two hours in the last 25, and it was truly epic. I cannot believe I didn't think 'V for Vendetta' would be a good movie! I'm in love with it! As well as Sweeney Todd, but I've been in love with that for a while (we had to put subtitles on due to me and Emma's loud singing along with almost every song). But now, back to Legend.

One minor note: I've realized I'm a bit stuffy with my posts, like some old man. I'M TOO FORMAL! I MUST LOOSEN THE HELL UP! And I'll try. Promise. Maybe.

First order of business, there're a few other caves I wanted to look around in, and some bushes I wanted to burn (not a euphemism). Searching around just west of the starting screen I found two caves, one with a silent old woman and another with a cryptic message: "MEET THE OLD MAN AT THE GRAVE". From my map I can see that there is indeed a graveyard area in far western Hyrule, but it's probably not best if I go there with such a pitiful lifespan (only 4 hearts). So it's east again to head for the next dungeon!

On my way there I burned a few bushes with my new Candle, revealing a hidden passageway! Too bad it's a cranky old man who took all my money for 'door repairs'. Meh, I only had a few left from the candle sale anyway. I also found another shop with a cheaper shield and Bombs for sale, as well as an Arrow for 80 Rupies. I'll need to stock up on money to get these necessities (maybe not necessities, but I want them). There was also a useful Fairy Pond, which I marked on the map for future visits.

After some more looking around (avoiding many spears and rocks spit from goblins and octopi respectively), I arrived at Dungeon 2 (who's name I can't figure out at the moment, until I find the map and see the shape). It was at this point that I took a few photos for proof of my progress (I thought of making a quick video, but I just couldn't get it right) (also, pretty much everyone who meets me for the first time thinks I'm gay, and I'm not about to let that spread to the internet):

Menu screen when first entering Dungeon 2,

An example of annotations I make on the map on my wall,

My current location (the dungeon).

Upon entering the East room I was immediately attacked by snakes, all of which died pretty easily and gave me a nice shiny key for my troubles. The next room was more snakes, only no key was given (selfish bastards), instead a locked door to the east, leading to the Compass protected by some balls of slime. OH EM GEE SLIME! HELP M-never mind, they're dead. From my boomerang.

A few rooms later and ANOTHER key is being protected by snakes. These ones actually gave me some decent Rupies, so I won't complain about them (yet). A little later I found the door for it, and some Santas walking around (who get stunned surprisingly easily by their own weapons). Inside, there was the MAP! Revealing this dungeon to be in a crescent shape, leading me to christen this underground monstrosity as Moon Dungeon!

Soon, there was ANOTHER KEY protected by MORE SNAKES, and a room with OMIGOD BLUE EVERYTHING! Statues at the corners were shooting me, blue Santas were throwing boomerangs at me... I died, obviously, so now I'm back at the start. THAT ROOM IS HIDING SOMETHING THOUGH, and I WILL find out. BY KILLING EVERYTHING! Tomorrow, though. This post is getting too long.

Ciou!

Blue Candle

Today's post doesn't get a quote as the title, because I couldn't do much. I'm heading off to a party (one of my friend's FINALLY as old as the rest of us), so only a quick play was allowed.

From the starting screen, I moved quickly to the nearest cave, finding a shop with the Magic Shield, a Key and a Blue Candle. Knowing I'll need the Blue Candle for later, I ran back out and killed enough monsters to gain another 5 Rupies to afford it (60). Next time I have enough money, I'll come back for the Magic Shield.

So, marking the location of the shop and what was sold within on my map, I saved my game (having found a heart, I was at full health, ready for the next play session). Many apologies for the short and pointless post, but I've got a party to get to. So Happy Birthday, Mikey! Feel special that I'm abandoning this 80's video game set up in my room for your party with all of my friends!

Eastmost Peninsula is the Secret

My quest has begun!

My character (unceremoniously named for myself) has entered Hyrule and immediately obtained the sword from the old man in the cave (cranky old hermit) and proceeded north. Following my map (and knowledge from previous attempts at the game) I moved towards the dungeon in the middle of Lake Hylia (at least that's what I'm calling it), killing everything in my path (except Zoras) and collecting Rupies (that's what the game manual calls them).

Once inside, I traversed to each of the left and right rooms, killing more bats and skeletons (Keese and Stalfos, apparently) and gained a few keys. Going through the next few rooms I got more keys and opened more doors, and encountered the famous Hermit (yeah, I'm calling the old men Hermits now) telling me the "EASTMOST PENINSULA IS THE SECRET". I promptly wrote the quote on a sticky note and stuck it above the map on my wall, hoping I'll understand later.

I tried to visit every room to uncover every secret, but ended up getting killed by a guy in a Santa suit (a Goriya) and sent back to the start of the dungeon! After I found my way back and gave Santa what-for, I obtained the Boomerang, Compass and Map and visited the Eagle's beak to find the Bow in an underground room (protected by Blade Traps, but I escaped them all!).

Now on my way to the Boss's room, I came to a room with growling sounds (no doubt the Boss monster) and immediately get grabbed by a blue hand (Wallmaster) and taken to the start again! GAAAH! I went back and stood at the entrance blasting my sword-beam (I collected a few hearts to fill myself up) until they were all gone (I got some Rupies too!) and snatched the final key.

Aquamentus the dragon! Oh wow! A bit cliche, but nobody really cares. The bastard starts shooting fireballs at me (3 at a time) and gets me about 4 times before I can cut his face a few times (it seemed like far too many) and he explodes. Yay! I nabbed the extra heart and found my first Triforce shard!

So there we are! The quest begun, the first Piece found, and the second Dungeon awaits! I tried getting there following my map but got killed by a bunch of Moblins when I entered the new forest (and after all that passing through the desert!). I'm saving and quitting for today, and maybe tomorrow I'll investigate a few nearby caves.

Beginning Sooner

Yeah, I couldn't think of any quote to use as the name of this post. Apologies, but I'm saving all the good ones for when I actually start.

Which is a nice bridge to my next point: I'm starting the earlier than January 1st. I'm getting too bored these days, so I'm starting Monday the 6th of December. I'm going on a week-long trip with some friends to celebrate our graduation starting tomorrow, and I'll start the Monday after I get back.

I've also noticed that people have actually been coming here every now and then. This is of course reassuring, that people might want to read me post each day about an old video game. Thank you, and screw those people who say the phrase "may you have an interesting life" is a curse. Go have an adventure!
